Course Description:
This course will help students grasp the electronic structure and electronic adsorption spectra of coordination compounds, understand the frontier research in modern coordination chemistry. It is suitable for graduate students of chemistry.

Chapter 1 Electronic adsorption spectra of transition metal coordination complexes Introduction; Charge-transfer spectra; Ligand field spectra. Chapter 2 Synthesis and structure of novel coordination complexes Considering some coordination polymers which have been published in the last 10 years;. Discussing how to design the structure of coordination complexes by choosing ligands, central ions or preparation conditions. Chapter 3 Rare-earth coordination complexes Synthesis of rare-earth coordination complexes; Photoluminescence principle and properties of rare-earth coordination complexes; Factors that can affect the photoluminescence of rare-earth complexes; Electroluminescent of rare-earth coordination complexes. Chapter 4 Magnetic coordination complexes The definition, characteristics, classification and research hotspots of molecular-based magnetic materials; Hexacyanometalate molecule-based magnets; Octacyanometalate molecule-based magnets; Other polynuclear molecule-based magnetic coordination complexes; Spin crossover magnetic coordination complexes; Single-molecule magnets; Single-chain magnets. Chapter 5 Polyacid coordination complexes The definition, categories, characteristics and structure features of polyacid coordination complexes.
