UCAS held a welcome party for its first-ever freshmen at the Yuquanlu campus auditorium on 30 August. At the ceremony, Prof. Ding Zhongli, President of UCAS and Vice-President of CAS, briefed the first-year undergraduates about the university and its faculty. Prof. Deng Yong, General Secretary of UCAS, also delivered a speech. It's the first enrollment of undergraduates at UCAS, with 360 in total. UCAS will utilize a tutorial mechanism and a double-head teacher system for cultivating the undergraduate students. Each of the 12 classes is equipped with a scientific researcher head teacher, typically a member of CAS or the head of a CAS institute, and a youth head teacher, typically a young associate professor or a post-doctoral fellow. Ten freshmen from Beijing, Henan and other localities spoke at the party, expressing their enthusiasm and confidence for their future in UCAS.
