Chemistry
Name: Topics of Polymer Materials
Catalog Number: 416007Y Hours/Credits: 12/1
Prerequisite(s):
At least two Level 2 courses within the Chemistry Major. The course is designed for polymer science who do not have an extensive math or physics background. In fact, no prior knowledge of polymer is assumed. It is suitable for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Course Description:
To extend the concepts and skills acquired in second year courses containing strong principles of polymer chemistry and physics as their basis; To introduce the concepts of all kind of polymer materials, including the preparation or fabrication, characterization, processing, etc, leading to a stronger understanding of the development of polymeric materials and their properties from the fundamental and practical perspective; To blend recent and current research activities from selected peer-reviewed literature articles exemplifying polymeric functional material with a focus on analyzing their fundamental principles.
Course Content:
The functionalization and modification of polyolefine based materials; The development of polymer composites: from modified clay to nano Carbon species; Polymer material with photo-electric properties; Functional polymers prepared with the aid of green medium.
