Name: Exploring the Solution to the Problems in the Research of Modern Organic Synthesis and Theory
Catalog Number: 417007Y Hours/Credits: 20/1
Prerequisite(s):
(Advanced) Organic Synthesis, Physical Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Organic Structure Analysis
Course Description:
This is a seminar opened for higher level students in organic synthesis, drug design and synthesis and related fields to improve their professional knowledge. After students have mastered the basic organic synthesis and conventional theory, emotionally discussion of the following cutting-edge progress, students will understand deeply on the theoretical and experimental problems in the frontier areas of research. The students are expected to solve the problem in their unique insights. This course will guide the students on how to conduct specific research, how to find theoretical or experimental problems in the experiment, how to optimize the experiments conditions, design new experiments or suggest new theory
Course Content:
1)Relationships between the chemical reactions and ratios or purities of different reactants and catalysts: ratio, concentration, aggregation state, doping, two-phase, charge-transfer, multi-components. 2)The problem on the selectivity of chemical reactions: Position selectivity, chemistry selectivity, stereo-selectivity, conditions improving 3) The impact of different catalysts on the chemical reactions, synthesis and reaction mechanism of new organic catalysts: Special acid-base catalysis, organic catalysis, metal catalysis, enzyme chemistry 4) Relationship between Organic structure and properties, comparison between experimental controlling and computer simulation for the organic theory: structure, properties, linear, simulating 5) Improving the chemical synthesis efficiency with the new theory proposed: combination, high purity, stability: 6) Special feature of the micro structure of molecules
