Chemistry
Name: Polymer Analysis and Characterization
Catalog Number: 412049Y Hours/Credits: 40/2
Prerequisite(s):
Polymer Chemistry and Polymer Physics or Two Related Courses within Organic and/or Polymeric Field.
Course Description:
The course is designed for graduate students majoring in materials science. To focus on the major methods which are employed in the analysis and characterization of the polymeric materials, including the fundamental principles, application examples, and future development. To encourage the students to get involved in sub-divided seminars according to their research projects in addition to lectures carried out in the classroom. To introduce up-to-date research activities from literature articles exemplifying the advantages of these analytical methods in probing the relationships between the structures of polymeric material and their properties.
Course Content:
Chapter 1 Thermal analysis (DSC, TGA, etc.) Chapter 2 Thermal-mechanical analysis (TMA, DMA, etc.) Chapter 3 Microscopic analysis (OM, SEM, TEM, AFM, STM, etc.) Chapter 4 Chromatographic analysis (GC, LC, GPC, etc.) Chapter 5 Spectral analysis (NMR, IR, Raman, etc.)
