Chemical Engineering & Technology
Name: The Relationship between Preparation, Characterization and Activities of the Catalysts
Catalog Number: 427002Y Hours/Credits: 20/2
Prerequisite(s):
The discussion course is an advanced class designed for graduate students who engage in industrial catalysis field. Before studying this course, one had better possess some basic knowledge about “The Principle of Catalysis” and “Industrial Catalysis”.
Course Description:
This subject is regarded as an advanced course designed for graduate students with industrial catalysis background. With the knowledge of the “principle of catalysis” and “catalyst’s preparation and characterization”, through analysis and discussion of some application examples from literature, students are supposed to understand the effect of different preparation methods of catalysts on their physical, chemical properties and catalytic activity, master the characteristic technologies and the methods of improving the catalytic activity, make a strong foundation for the future.
Course Content:
Chapter 1 Metal catalyst’s preparation method and its property, taking catalytic process of ammonia synthesis as an example, introduction to the industrial development of ammonia synthesis, the process and operation conditions, the catalytic process of synthesizing ammonia and catalytic process of producing hydrogen from steam reforming Chapter 2 Solid catalyst’s property, taking catalytic cracking and molecular sieve catalytic process as examples, introduction of catalytic cracking process and its mechanism, industrial cracking catalysts, catalytic process of shape selective molecular sieve Chapter 3 preparation, characterization and property of dual functional catalysts, taking catalytic reforming reaction as an example, the introduction of chemical absorption, surface chemical bond, surface chemistry of Pt atom Chapter 4 Complex catalytic process of transition metal, taking carbonylation reaction as an example, the complex catalytic oxidation process of transition metal, the process of polymerization and oligomerization reaction Chapter 5 Catalytic oxidation process of metal oxide catalyst, hydrocarbon catalytic oxidation, transition metal oxide catalyst, selective oxidation of propylene and its ammonia oxidation
