The School of  Chemical Sciences, as one of core academic colleges of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), was established in September, 2004. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Department of Chemistry of Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS). According to the overall strategic plan of CAS, the school is administrated by the Institute of Chemistry, in conjunction with the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Institute of Process Engineering, and more than ten other institutes of CAS. The school has seven divisions including Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science and Materials, Chemical Engineering, and Chemical Experiment and Comprehension.

Eligibility for Distinguished Professors

The Distinguished Professor must meet one of the following conditions: the Distinguished Professor of the “Changjiang Scholars Program” of the Ministry of Education; the winner of the “National Outstanding Youth Fund”; Leading Talents of the “National High-level Talents Special Support Program” (excluding leading talents in science and technology); Leader of the innovation team of the Ministry of Education; Leader of the National Natural Science Foundation's innovative research community. In addition, applicants should be under 55 years old and have the academic necessity conditions required for this position. They will receive not less than a RMB ¥3,000,000 research funds and an annual salary of not less than a RMB ¥700,000 from UCAS as well as a RMB ¥2,000,000 housing allowance from UCAS.

Associate Professor in the Long-Term Employment System

The Associate Professor in the Long-Term Employment System must meet one of the following conditions: the winner of the “National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund”; the Young Talent of the "National High-level Talents Special Support Program"; the Young Scholar of “Changjiang Scholars Program”. In addition, applicants should be under 45 years old and have the academic necessity conditions required for this position. They will receive not less than a RMB ¥1,000,000 research funds and an annual salary of not less than a RMB ¥500,000 from UCAS as well as a RMB ¥2,000,000 housing allowance from UCAS.

Assistant professor in the Long-Term Employment System

A doctoral degree is generally required, with applicants having three (or more) consecutive years of research experience. Applicants should be under 40 years old and should have achieved outstanding results in their respective fields as well as are also expected to have the potential for academic development with creative strategic thinking. They will receive not less than a RMB ¥700,000 research funds and an annual salary of not less than a RMB ¥300,000 from UCAS. In addition, for newly introduced personnel from overseas and outside Beijing, applicants may rent a school's revolving housing.

Applicants are required to provide the following materials: personal resume in both Chinese and English (including scientific research experience, published papers, etc.), the copy of ID card or passport, the copy of doctoral degree certificate, the proof of employment, the copy of contact of professional technical position, list of academic works and their citations, the full text of ten representative papers in five years, relevant supporting materials for academic influence and evaluation, five recommendation letters for Distinguished Professor and Associate Professor in the Long-Term Employment System, eight recommendation letters for Assistant professor in the Long-Term Employment System and etc.
